Anaemia affecting children in the state

New Delhi, Velugu: The Neeti Aayog announced that the problem of Anaemia among women and children in Telangana has increased. During the last four years, the problem aggravated 9% in children and 5% in pregnant women. 4 years back, the Anaemia problem with was 61% children. Now it went up to 70%. And in women, the percentage of Anaemia increased to 55.5% from 52.5% in 2014. Lack of nutritious food is causing a lot of problems among children and women in the state and the problem was very serious in Ranga Reddy, Mahboob Nagar, Hyderabad and Adilabad districts. It also said that in terms of women education, the state capital Hyderabad stood last in the state and also that in the prevention of obesity among children of 5 years age and also women between 15-49 years of age Hyderabad stood last, Neeti Aayog clarified. In a nutrition profile released on Friday, Neeti Aayog said that not only lack of nutritious food and also a number of problems are affecting the children and women’s health in the State. Neeti Aayog said that the problem of obesity has increased to 8% among men and the problem of stunted growth among children increased to 33% from 28% in 2015/16. There is a problem o underweight among people in the state which was also causing a lot of concern. The redeeming factor of the report is that the underweight program among women is reduced to 19% from 23%. There is no balance of weight and height among children under 5 years of age. The problem of low weight among children as well as women has reduced to 4% but Anaemia increased 1% in them.

53 lakh women suffer from Anaemia

The Neeti Aayog report said that 16,34,760 children under the age if 5 are facing Anaemia problem and also that more than 53 lakh women between 15-49 years are facing the problem.
