All party delegation to Delhi on Podu lands issue

Hyderabad, Velugu: The Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Shekhar Rao announced in the state assembly that the government would not accept new Podu cultivation in forest lands. He also clarified that who were presently undertaking Podu cultivation would have minimum rights over them. He said that he was planning to take an all party delegation to Delhi on the Podu lands issue. The Chief Minister also mentioned that the central forest ministry made 2005 cut-off date and providing rights over Podu lands. And if the cut-off date was changed, it would be possible to provide rights to tribals he said. The Chief Minister gave the details of Podu land cultivation referring cabinet committee report. He also said that the details would be submitted to the assembly and a resolution would be made on it. “The government will take all party delegation to Delhi on Podu land issue. The rights of local tribals and Adivasis in composite Khammam and Warangal districts are affected by the people who have been coming from the Maharashtra.” KCR said.

Telangana 3rd in greenary

As far as the greenary is concerned, the state of Telangana has achieved third place in the world, the Chief Minister said and revealed that in the first and second places, Canada and Brazil stood respectively. He also said that the green cover programme of the state government was appreciated by the UNO and that there was a nursery in every village of the state. While accepting that the 80-90% of the saplings being planted as a part of Haritha haaram were giving good results and are sustaining. So far, an amount of rupees six thousand five fifty six crores has been spent to plant 200 crore saplings.  He also gave details of allocation of funds to green cover from different sources and also gave details as to how funds were being mobilization for the green cover project. He also announced that survey of lands in the state would be taken out shortly and the land problems would be solved by showing borders with coordinates.

“It is not the policy of the government to take over assigned lands for irrigation projects and other development works. In case of an unavoidable situation, the assigned lands are taken over by the government by paying appropriate compensation. No land from Dalits and tribals were taken over by the government and any such thing happend, the CM asked the members to bring it to the notice. Efforts will be made to bring back five villages merged in Andhra Pradesh and a resolution will be made in the assembly to the effect, the chief minister asserted.
 
Formation of green funds

The Chief Minister KCR announced in the assembly a special fund under the name, “telangana green fund” would be formed. In this regard, he asked the members from all sectors of the society to contribute to the fund. He asked the central services officials to contribute to the fund Rs100 per month from their salaries. And ,MPs and MLAs should contribute Rs500 from their salaries. An amount of Rs5-100 will be collected from the students at the time of admission for the purpose of green funds. The CM said and announced that a rule would be brought in for this purpose.
